Grading: Final grade is based on the following four parts.
(a) 20% Homework assignments.
(b) 10% Quizes.
(c) 40% 2 midterm exams. Each one is 20%
(d) 30% Final exam. It covers all material in the semester.

Course Description: Study and use numerical methods to solve linear systems of equations and eigenvalues by iterative methods. Compute QR factorization and SVD decomposition. Fast Fourier transformation. We will study primarily Trefethen and Bau textbook listed above.

Matlab Information
Matlab is an excellent environment for experimentation in scientific computing. It is not the most efficient environment for large-scale simulations, although with some effort, Matlab can be used in conjunction with C and Fortran routines. Matlab is a product of The Mathworks.
