Abstract:
Poincare duality is a famous and fundamental theorem in geometry and topology. However, it is no longer true for singular variety. Mark Goresky and Robert MacPherson introduced the intersection homology in 1974, successfully reconstructed the duality property by restricting chains only interacting singular parts in controlled dimensions. In this talk, I will give the basic idea of intersection homology and some elementary calculations.
