Abstract: We characterize chaotic cosine operator functions, induced by a weighted translation operator on the Lebesgue space of a locally compact group, in terms of the weight function, the Haar measure and the group element. In particular, chaos can only occur on the cosine operator function and the weighted translation operator simultaneously. A necessary and sufficient condition for the direct sum of cosine operator functions to be chaotic is obtained as well. Tea Time： 3:00pm, R707
