Abstract: Using Burgurs' equation as motivation, the notion of viscosity solutions of Hamilton-Jacobi equations will be introduced. The following topics will be surveyed, including existence and uniqueness results, optimal control and Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations, periodic homogenization and numerical methods.
