In this talk, we will introduce Weyl sums and explain the connection between Weyl sums and equidistribution problems in number theory. We will thendiscuss various methods for estimating Weyl sums and their applications. In particular, we will give an estimate of quadratic Weyl sums by using thespectral theory of automorphic forms. Such Weyl sums are related to theequidistributionof quadratic roots.
