Abstract:
In this talk, I will give an overview of the theory of heights on projective
varieties. The notion of normalised height plays an important role in
diophantine approximation on tori, specially in Bogomlov’s problems and
generalised Lehmer’s problems. I will give the construction of this height
and show for instance that the normalised height of hypersurfaces is given
in terms of Mahler measures. I will explain its connection to the notion of
normalised arithmetic Hilbert function, which is an important step towards
the computation of the height of the translated toric projective subvarieties.
