On the Local Stability of a Food Web Model with Parasitic Fungi and Zooplankton
Abstract: We consider a food web model of two competing phytoplankton groups on a single nutrient. The model incorporates the parasitism of the small phytoplankton by fungi and the zooplankton being on top of the food web. The model also includes a recently known biological link between the fungi and the zooplankton. In our study, we derive initial results regarding the local stability of this model. In particular, we simplify the model through non-dimensionalization and derive parametric conditions for the existence of a locally stable equilibrium point.
