An Introduction to the Library of Department of Mathematics

A Brief History

In October 1976 as the activities of teaching and research in the department were growing, a mathematical reading room was established with books and journals donated by the students and faculty. Beginning from 1977 with financial supports coming from the University and National Science Council, the departmental library was formed and the collections of books and periodicals have been expanding ever since. In January 1990 the library of department of mathematics was renamed the Branch Library of Mathematics and formally became part of the university library system.

General Information

The library is located on the third and fourth floors of the General Building, III. The open stack library collects over 30,000 titles of books and subscribes over 300 research journals in mathematics, statistics and related fields. CD-ROM retrieval and other references and interlibrary loan services are provided. The collection can be searched through the OPAC or TOTAL 2.2 of the University Library Information Processing system.

Access and Circulation

The library is open to the public. The borrowing privilege is extended to the studensts, faculty and staff of National Tsing Hua, Chiao Tung and Central Universities. Other readers may apply library card which can be renewed every year. See National Tsing Hua University Library Lending Code for the details of the lending regulation.
